Building Our LA Ovenworks Outdoor Wood Oven
Our LA Oven Works outdoor wood oven celebrates its FIFTH birthday this summer. Having our own wood-fired outdoor oven has been a wonderful addition to our family. It sets the scene for many lovely evenings baking, roasting and sharing food with good friends. We have to thank Anna and Peter Carpenter, owners of the company, for their help with this project. We installed their Elisa Model 90. It has a 36-inch interior diameter. This size has been perfect for our needs, easy to first and refine as needed. (We were tempted by a larger size oven until we realized how much more wood is needed to heat it.)
And we have many people to thank for the construction of the oven: the talented John Dube and his crew from New England Masonry Service in Deep River, CT for the lovely look of the oven, Glen Dona, who cleared the hillside and generally keeps us in order and Don Henson from Custom Landscaping in Killingworth, CT for the retaining wall and sycamore tree.
